1. What Veldar is
Veldar is a planner for your iPhone, made by Chase Wiley ("we", "us"). It is a free beta. That means:
- It is still being built. It can have bugs, features can change or disappear, and the beta can end.
- It can lose data. Keep your own copy of anything important, such as a deadline you cannot miss.
- Builds that you install through TestFlight stop working after a while (Apple sets this at 90 days). You install a newer build to keep going.
2. Who can use it
Anyone can use Veldar on their own iPhone without an account. Nothing you enter then leaves your phone.
Online features (the account, the streak leaderboard and Circle) are only for people who are 13 or older. Before you can sign in, Veldar asks for your birth month and year and checks them on your iPhone. Please answer truthfully. By creating an account you tell us that you are 13 or older. In some countries the age at which you can agree to online services on your own is higher than 13. If that applies to you, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. If you are under 18, or under the age of adulthood where you live, please ask a parent or guardian before you use the online features.
3. Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Use an address that belongs to you.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your iPhone locked, and tell us at hello@getveldar.com if you think someone else is using your account.
- One account per person. Don't create accounts for other people, and don't create accounts automatically.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (You > Veldar account > Delete my account). That removes your account and what is stored online for it, as the Privacy Policy explains. The button appears once you have chosen a username. If you have not chosen one, email hello@getveldar.com and we will delete the account.
4. Planning suggestions are suggestions
Veldar looks at the tasks you enter and the time you log, and then suggests things: how long a task will probably take, whether your day looks realistic, when to start, what to move. These are estimates based on your own history. They can be wrong.
- Veldar does not promise that you will finish anything on time, or get any grade or result.
- Reminders and notifications depend on your iPhone and its settings. They can arrive late or not at all. Do not rely on Veldar alone for something that really matters.
- Veldar is not a substitute for advice from your teacher, school, counselor or any other professional. Nothing in Veldar is medical, psychological or educational advice.
- You make the decisions. A suggestion changes nothing until you accept it.
5. Using the online features properly
Please don't:
- pick a username that impersonates someone, pretends to be Veldar or its staff, uses another person's real name, or is offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or misleading;
- use Circle to harass, pressure or spy on anyone, or to pressure someone into sharing more than they want to;
- guess or trade invite codes, or hand someone a code you were given without their knowledge;
- share, post or pass on what you see in someone's Circle, other than to help that person;
- try to cheat the streak leaderboard, or to break, overload, probe or get around the service or its limits;
- use Veldar to do anything illegal or to harm anyone.
If you help someone through Circle, you use what you see only to support them. Anything you send to a student must be appropriate for them to receive.
6. Circle: your choices and your responsibility
Circle is built so the student is in charge. Nothing is shared until the student accepts, and the student can change or remove access at any time. A few things to know:
- We do not check who anyone is. The role on an invite ("Parent", "Tutor" and so on) is a label chosen by the student, and the name a helper types is not verified. Only accept people you know.
- Once someone has seen something, removing their access cannot make them forget it, and they could copy it.
- You decide what to share. Veldar cannot hide single items from a helper who can view tasks.
7. Your content
What you enter is yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people you choose, as set out in the Privacy Policy, only so that Veldar can work. Your username is public, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Veldar itself (the app, its design and its text) belongs to Chase Wiley and anyone who licenses it to us. While these terms apply, you may use it on your own iPhone for your own use. You may not copy it, sell it or pretend it is yours.
8. If something goes wrong, or you break the rules
We can remove a username, take someone off the leaderboard, end a connection, or suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms or harms other people or the service. If it is serious we may do this without warning. We may also change, pause or end Veldar or the beta. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first.
To report an abusive username or misuse, email hello@getveldar.com.
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what Veldar does with your information. It is part of these terms.
10. No warranty
Veldar is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, always work, be secure, or be free of errors, and we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied. You use Veldar at your own risk.
11. Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Veldar and Chase Wiley are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, missed deadlines, grades or lost opportunities, however they happen. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for anything connected to Veldar is limited to the amount you paid for it, which for the free beta is nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits anything the law does not allow to be limited, such as responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. Apple
You also have to follow Apple's terms for TestFlight and the App Store. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Veldar or for supporting it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you where they apply to your use of Veldar from Apple's services.
13. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Chase Wiley resides. If you are a consumer, you keep any rights you have under the mandatory laws of the place where you live. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version at https://getveldar.com and change the date at the top. For important changes we will also tell you in the app or in the TestFlight notes. If you keep using Veldar after a change, you accept the new terms.
